UK in January to May this year than in the same five months of 1971 — and foreign vehicles' share of the market exceeded 10 per cent for the first time.
Latest DoE figures show that 113,344 goods vehicles were registered in Jan/May 1972 (97,972 Jan/May 1971) while passenger vehicle registrations rose by 339 to 4875.
SMMT statistics for the same period show that imported commercial vehicles took 6.14 per cent of the market in the first five months of 1971, but 10.05 per cent in the same period of this year.
