Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Newcastle-London Mr Service Rumoured.

There is considerable talk of an air service between Newcastle and London, and in some circles it is thought that such a service will commence within a few weeks. We are not at present able to give further details.

New Customs Airports.

• The Air Ministry announces that Southampton (Woolston) aerodrome has been approved as a Customs air-, port for seaplanes, and that Romford (Maylands) aerodrome is approved as a Customs airport for aeroplanes carrying only passengers and their baggage.

S.M.T. De Havillands All Delivered.

The 12 De Havilland aeroplanes ordered by the Scottish Motor Traction Co„ Ltd., East Fountaitibridge, Edinburgh, 3 (as announced in this paper on March 24), have now all been delivered and are in service. They comprise a Tiger Moth, eight Fox Moths and three Dragons. A regular North Berwick-St. Andrews service is planned.

H.R.H. Opens Norwich Aerodrome,

A few days ago n.R.R. the Prince of Wales flew to Norwich municipal aerodrome (Mousehold) to perform the opening ceremony.

Isle of Man Prospects.

The committee appointed to consider Isle of Man aerodrome needs reports in favour of development, with wireless and meteorological services.

R.A.F. Pageant in Rain.

For the first time since 1022 rain seriously interfered with the MAX'. Pageant at Hendon on June 24. Nevertheless, the event gave an impression of the increased security' of flying and of the improved capabilities of modern machines. The new Short Brothers 33ton flying boat and the two oil-engined machines proved most interesting. The latter were the Westland Wapiti with Bristol Phcenix oil engine and the Hawker Horsley with Rolls-Royce adapted Condor oil engine.

More than 1,200 guests, representing 60 countries, attended the demonstration of modern British aircraft arranged by the Society of British Aircraft Constructors at Hendon on June 26.

Isle of Wight Figures.

Portsmouth, Southsea and Isle of Wight Aviation, Ltd., gives the following figures of passengers carried on its regular air lines in the week to June 22:— Portsmouth-Ryde, 174 single journeys; Isle of Wight-Shoreham, 3; Portsmouth-Shanklin, 13; Ryde-Shanklin, 5. Private-charter flights have been made to the Channel Isles.

Hillman's Improving Traffic.

Hillman's' Airways, Romford, gives the following figures of passengers carried in the week to June 25:— Romford-Clacton line, 80 single journeys; Romford-Margate line, 57; Rosaford-Paris line, 52.

Handley-Page Profits.

The accounts for 1932 of HandleyPage, Ltd., London, N.W.2, show a net profit of £8,135, this including profit on realization of investments, also a transfer from ineome tax reserve. The meeting will be held on July 3. North Sea Charter Services and Rates.

A folder has been issued by North Sea Aerial and General Transport, Ltd., Brough, and East Yorkshire Motor Services, Ltd., Hull. It gives fares and times of the HuIl-Grimsby air service (which we gave last week), also details of private-charter facilities.

Examples include Berlin in 10 hours at a return fare of about £22 to £25; London (Croydon) in two hours at a return fare of £5 15s. to £8 8s., and Newcastle in 1 hour 15 minutes at a return fare of £3 13s. to £5 5s., according to the number of passengers, The machine normally used on the HullGrimsby service is a Blackburn Segrave twin-eng,ined monoplane.

Airworthiness Handbook Amended.

Amendment list No. 33, of the Airworthiness Handbook for Civil Aircraft, has been issued, and copies can be obtained from H.M. Stationery Office, Adastral House, Kingsway, London, W.C.2.

Carlisle Aerodrome's New Charges.

As from the beginning of the month, the aerodrome committee of Carlisle Corporation is making new charges, in accordance with the Air Ministry's revised scale of landing fees, •for the use of the municipal lauding ground.

Australia Route Survey.

The Imperial Airways liner "Astraea" has arrived at Australia on its survey of the new mail route.

Seaford Aerodrome Decision. The Ministry of Health has advised Seaford -Urban District Council that the interim development order applied for by Kensington Square Garages, Ltd.,. for the laying out of a 75-acre aerodrome at Seaford (Sutton Fields) will not be granted.
