In another case, an appeal was made against a decision to revoke the licence of Paul Philips, trading as Martini Scaffolding, of Croydon, London. South-Eastern & Metropolitan Deputy Traffic Commissioner John Baker had found that the company had been using an unauthorised operating centre, had a conviction for exceeding permitted axle weights, and had failed to make proper arrangements so that vehicles were not overloaded. The firm also had a poor pass rate for annual vehicle tests on its vehicles.
Baker said that he had serious concerns about the 'general attitude of the operator", which contributed towards his decision to revoke the licence and disqualify the operator from holding one for six months.
The company immediately appealed against the decision and the revocation of the licence has not taken place. The operator has been granted a stay of the decision from the OTC until the appeal. No date for this has yet been set.
