in the Derbyshire Peak District has refused to increase its fares by as much as another larger company operating on the same routes. When the North Western Road Car Co. Ltd. was granted increases of up to 3d., J. H. Woolliscroft and Son Ltd., who operate 16 Silver Service Buses from Darley Dale. nr. Matlock, became entitled to raise their fares by the same amounts, but have refused to do so.

Managing director Mr. John Woolliscroft said: " We are prepared to raise our fares by a maximum of 2d. but we consider 3d. too much. North Western is asking far too much at one bite. Many of the villagers using our services would boycott our buses if we put fares up by 3d."

The stand by Silver Service against soaring fares has forced North Western to suspend its new increase on shared routes until officials of the two companies have met.
