HE State-owned Transport Holding Company is expected to succeed in a bid to acquire control of the 1,500-vehicle Tayforth Ltd. group of transport companies. Announcement of this agreed take-over plan on Tuesday was rapidly followed by the news that the Holding Company and Leyland had agreed to exchange shares in Bristol, Eastern Coach Works, and Park Royal, thus freeing the State-owned manufacturing companies from their statutory limitations and giving Leyland new assembly capacity. Also announced was a further share exchange to co-ordinate the activities of car transporter concerns. All these transactions have the Minister of Transport's approval.
