Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

by Miles Brignall

• A London owner-driver who has been in a Greek prison since before Christmas could be there for eight months after being accused of stealing a £45,000 load of shoes.

Driver James Dormer and his girlfriend Jackie Rose have been separately imprisoned in and near Athens since 19 December after apparently going to the delivery address to explain that a consignment of Dr Martens boots had been stolen.

Dormer, 46, an experienced driver, and his girlfriend were arrested and their truck has been impounded.

Friends and family are concerned about them as they have been told their English speak

ing lawyer will not begin work until he has been paid something on account. It appears the couple left the load in a secure trailer park in Becton, East London before travelling through Greece, via Italy. Once Dormer realised the 237 boxes were missing he decided to carry on to Athens and deliver the two other consignments he had on board.

Dormer was sub-contracted for the trip by Manchester freight forwarding firm Domack International.

The British embassy in Athens says if Dormer cannot pay the lawyer the court will provide one two days before the trial starts—but he may not speak English.
