Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Eurotunnel has admitted that it may re-design its wagons for freight vehicles because of the Channel Tunnel fire. The opensided wagons have been criticised for allowing fires to spread more quickly once they have started.

The company came under attack from the Transport and General Workers Union this week because of reports that it had ordered £12m worth of the open-sided wagons. The order was allegedly detailed in a leaked Eurotunnel document.

But a Eurotunnel spokeswoman says that the order was placed before the fire and that discussions were taking place which could result in modifications. "We haven't cancelled the order," she says, "but the company making the wagons is

aware of the position and we are talking to them about solutions."

Danny Bryan, the TGWU's road haulage secretary, says: "The union will lobby the appropriate authorities to ensure that the safety of LGV drivers is held to be paramount in wagon design and operation." E French firm Arbel Fauvet is due to begin deliveries of the wagons at the end of this year.
