Jobs register

A JOBS REGISTER for drivers is to be started by the Continental Freight Drivers' Club to find members both part-time and permanent jobs.

The register is being started as part of the European parent club Union Internationale des Chauffeurs Routiers and will begin operations next month. Membership fee is £5 a year.

French connection

A NEW export service to France for goods between 1 and 5 tons has been introduced by National Carriers.

NCL's French connection willbe run in conjunction with Satco Pickfords International (SPI). Satco is an old-established French company based in Rouen and NCL has bought a half share in the road freight side of its business.

Chemical Z

AN " incident " involving a tanker carrying a hazardous load will be featured in BBC l's Z-cars programme next Monday, February 2. The programme starts at 7.20pm.

Removers' courses

RESIDENTIAL courses for managers and estimators in the removals trade are announced by the Institute of the Furniture Warehousing and Removing Industry. Both courses cover the syllabus of the Institute Examinations though are also suitable for anyone holding a managerial position in a removals firm.

The manager's residential course will be held on February 23-27 at the Norfolk Hotel, Harrington Road, London SW7.

Accident help

MEMBERS of the social club of the Reading sub-area of the Road Haulage Association have given £500 to the Thames Valley Branch of the emergency accident care scheme. • The money will be used to buy emergency kits, which have already !proved their value saving lives.
