Mr C. John French. publishing director of Commercial Motor and a director of IPC Business Press Ltd, is to retire on March 31, having completed 50 years' service. He started at Temple Press Ltd (the original publishers of CM) in 1926 in the advertisement department and after war service became successively advertisement manager of Light Metals, Plastics, Overseas Engineer, Nuclear Engineering and Commercial Motor. He became advertisement manager of Temple Press Ltd in 1963 and then deputy advertisement director.

When IPC Transport Press Ltd was formed Mr French became publishing director of Commercial Motor, Freight Management, Traveinews and ABC Airways Magazine, He was appointed to the board in 1970 and became responsible as publishing director for Motor and Commercial Motor until Motor was transferred to IPC Specialist and Professional Press last August.
