Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A Useful Tool Holder.

Many users of motor vehicles are the possessors of a suitable workshop which is fitted with a certain amount of plant calculated to deal with many of the minor repairs which crop up from time to time on business motor vehicles in everyday business service.

Few users of this class, however, are inclined to lock up a considerable amount of capital in the pro vision of specially-made tools to deal with each particular job, such as is done in an up-to-date workshop. To such a user a general-utility universal lathe tool-holder is of great value. We would instance, as a satisfactory example of such a device, the special tool offered by Willans and Robinson, Ltd., the well-known maker of vertical high-speed engines.

This company has experimented with the appliance under notice in its own workshops for some considerable time, and many outside users have testified to its general efficiency. We reproduce a drawing which gives a good idea of the simple construction and strength of this holder.

Reliable Ball Bearings, From the Tornao Manufacturing Co., Bunhill Row, E.C., we have received a well-got-up catalogue dealing with the ball bearings made by Messrs. Fichtel and Sachs, the famous Continental makers. This deals fully with the use of ball-bearings and their application to various mechanical purposes, more particularly with regard to their use on commercial motors. Those who are interested in the use of these appliances will do well to secure a copy of this catalogue from the Torino Co.

Our Trumpeter.

We give herewith extracts from a letter which we have recently received from Messrs. C. A. Hunton and Sons, 110, Bishopsgate, F.C., which bears testimony to the value of the " Purchase Department" pages.

We consider that you have described the tool to great advantage. This morning (two days after publication) we have pleasure to inform you that we have received an inquiry from Oldham, which has been traced directly to your notice."

You Can Get It At- M.S.' (Finsbury).—With regard to your recent inquiry as to the maker of tires which cover an exceedingly large range of sizes, we are informed by the Shrewsbury and Challiner Tyre Co., Ltd., of Ardwick Green, Manchester, that a new feature of its 1913 list is the large number of additional millimetre tire sizes which are supplied, quite apart from this company's original standard productions. Rolling Shutters for Garages.

greatly-increased demand, by users of commercial motors, during the last two or three years, for up-to-date garages, has led the Wilson Rolling Shutter Co., Ltd., St. John's House, Minories, E., to make a special effort to meet this want. These appliances meet in every respect the requirements of the L.C.C. and other councils, as well as the principal fire insurance offioes, and they have also passed the severe and searching tests of the British Fire Prevention Committee, all of which bodies have awarded " full classification " to the shutters.

There are no loose hinges attached to the slats by rivets, or other methods. The slat itself is of steel, having its edges formed in such a way as to produce a continuous hinge running the full width of the shutter. This construction gives great strength, and is suitable for doors which are subjected to severe usage. The hinges are of such a shape that they can be considered almost as strengthening ribs. There are no air spaces through which rain and dust can penetrate between the separate slats. This greatly improved form of shutter can be fitted, if required, with devices which regulate its automatic opening or closing ; this latter adaptation being, of course, of service in case of fire. Considerable reduction in premiums can be obtained from the fire insurance offices when the Wilson Co.'s shutters are fitted to 6. workshop or garage.
