ALMOST 100.000 elderly people in Glasgow
will be able to use their concession permits for evening travel on corporation transport services from the beginning of February. Permits will be valid from 6.30 p.m. onwards from Monday to Friday inclusive and all day on Saturdays from 7 a.m.
The permits will still be valid from 9.30 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Monday to Friday.
The extension of the hours will cost about £120,000 a year, bringing the total annual cost of the concession to £500,000. The cost is to be met from the rates.
Edinburgh Corp. contribute more than £70,000 towards the cost of concession permits (estimated at £242,000), Aberdeen contributes almost £70,000. and Dundee more than £40,000.
