ASSIGNMENTS of , ex-British Road Services' vehicles are revealed in eight of the nine areas from which purchases of lorries on special A licences have been reported

this week. .

The largest new transaction was in the north-west, where Hacketts Haulage, Ltd., Salfowl, transferred a further 41 vehicles.

SCOTLAND

Further purchases, involving four vehicles (111 tons), have been made by Pentland Garage, Ltd.. Loanhead. Two of these have been transferred. one (41 tons) going to Messrs. Dean Transport, Edinburgh, and the other (41 tons)to Mr. William Hunter, Loanhead.

Peter Saddler and Co.. Ltd., Leith, have taken over another two articulated vehicles (31 tons) with trailers.

Two more vehicles bought by Mr. Ernest Sanderson, Bearsden, have been divided between Archibald Brechin. Ltd.. Glasgow (2 tons), and Road Services (Caledonian), Ltd.. Dumfries (li tons).

Three lorries (14-2;tons) have been taken over by Messrs. Edward Preston and Sons, Larbert, in a first purchase.

Sutherlands of Peterhead (Road Hauliers), Ltd., Peterhead, have taken over two lorries (7 tons) from Central Garage (Bathgate). Ltd., Batligate. and one (3 tons) from Charles Alexander and Partners (Transport), Ltd., Aberdeen: Messrs. James S. Auld and Sons. Kilmarnock. a lorry (5 tons) and a trailer from Northern (Allied) Transport and Trading Co.. Penrith ; John Rhind (Haulage Contractors). Ltd., Aberdeen, two lorries (6 tons) from Mr. John Nicol, Pitcaple; Dunvegan Supply and Transport Co., Kingstnuir, By Forfar, a lorry (3 tons) from Angus Transport Co.. Brechin; Messrs. Frank Andrew and Sons, Newrnains. one (3 tons) from Mr. Alexander M. Wright, Dalkeith; and Mr. George Stringfellow, Glasgow, one (7 tons) from Mr. S. Hughes. Mirfield. Mr. Stringfellow has. in (urn, transferred a lorry (41 tons) to Mr. Henry Wilson, Glasgow.

NORTHERN AREA A direct purchase has been made by Mr.

R. Cawthorn. 4 Croft Terrace. Hexharn. It involved a lorry weighing 7 tons 9 cwt. which has now been transferred to Cawthorn and Sinclair, Ltd.. North Road Garage. Birtley.

Bulmer and Co., J.td., 3 Exchange Place. Middlesbrough; one (2 tons 7 cwt.) to Mr. P. V. Dobson, Ivy House, Levens. Kendal; and an articulated vehicle (3 tons 12 cwt.) and a trailer to Lintzgarth Transport Co., Ltd., Park End, Ormesby, near Middlesbrough.

NORTH-WEST Another 41 vehicles, including 11 articu lated outfits and seven trailers, have been bought. and transferred by Hacketts Haulage, Ltd., 229 Cross Lane, Salford, 5. Twenty-five, including six of the articulated outfits and five trailers (1311 tons) have gone to Woodcocks Transport (Choriey), Ltd., Park Road Garage, Heskin. near Chorley. and the remaining 16, five of them articulated outfits, and two trailers (761 tons), to Beechs Garage (Hanley), Ltd.. in the West Midland Traffic Area.

Woodcocks Transport have made over two of the articulated outfits (11 tons) to the Balton Transport and Trading Co., Ltd., Clive Street, Bolton.

Aber Carriers (1954). Ltd., Vulcan Works, Salop Road. Welshpool, have bought another lorry (21 tons). Other direct purchasers are W. Kellett and Sons, Ltd., Albert Edward Dock, Preston, an articulated outfit (41 -tons), and Mr. T. Lloyd. 47 Alder Hey Road, Eccleston, St. Helens. a lorry (21 tons).

EASTERN -COUNTIES

Frank Taylor's Transport (Ailsworth), Ltd., have taken over 10 vehicles, including two articulated outfits (321 tons), from Mr. F. L. Taylor, Spring Cottage, Ailsworth. Three more vehicles, two of them articulated outfits (10) tons) have been bought by Peterborough Engineering Co., Newark. Of -these, a lorry (3 tons) has been transferred to Mr. F. R. Alderman, 27 Scotney Street, Peterborough, and an articulated outfit (31 tons) to J. and E. Kenny, Ltd., 31 Scotney Street, Peterborough. Mr. V. J. Grange, 124 Bridge Street, Peterborough, has acquired a further five vehicles (12; tons) one of which (21 tons) came from Central Garage (Bathgate).

Ltd., Bathgate, Scotland. Four of these have now been assigned, two of them (4) tons) to Vickers Transport Co. (Peterborough), Ltd., 36 St. Leonard's Street. Peterborough; -one (21 tons) to Messrs. Stockley Transport. Iron Bridge Lane, Stockley, West Drayton; and one (3 tons) to Mr. J. Hicks, Station Road, Tydd. Another lorry (3 tons) has been sold by Mr. Grange to Messrs. P. Goss and Son, 99a Quainton Road, Waddesdon.

One (4) tons) of two lorries (71 tons) assigned to Messrs. J. and R. Norman, 3 Ely Road, Littleport, by Mr. R. Norman. of the same address, has now been transferred to 0. G. Barnard and Sons, Ltd., Station Road, SLowmarket. 0. G. Barnard have, in turn, sold it to Eye Haulage Co., Ltd., Eye.
