Revised fares which were to be put into operation on January 1 on Glasgow Tr a n s port Department's motorbus services have been deferred for further consideration in view of the zontinued rise in costs, particularly as a result of the recent pay award.

Before the award was announced, there were hopes of some improvement in the undertaking's financial position, a-.; a result of higher fares which have been charged on the trolleybuses and trams since August 21 last, but the Jepartment is now facing a deficit of between £500,000 and £600,000 at the :.nd of the current financial year.
