EMPLOYING a 14-ft. 9-in, frame and the components arranged as in the 7-8-tonner, Sentinel (Shrewsbury), Ltd., Shreigsbury, has recently added a 10-ton, rigid six-wheeler t2 its range of vehicles. Only the forward axle of tIlt rear bogie is driven, the rocker suspension being balanced to give a proportion of seven load units on the driving axle, to five load units on the non-driven rear axle.

The Sentinel four-cylindereci horizontal oil engine, which produces 90 b.h.p. at 2,000 r.p.m., drives to a five-speed gearbox through a 14-in, diameter heavy-duty clutch. The fifth speed in the box is an overdrive. A back-axle ratio of 8.25 to 1 is standard. With 10-stud fixing, the wheels carry 36-in. by 8-in. tyres. with, of course, twins at the rear.

The Lockheed brake master cylinder has a 2-in, outlet as against one of 11 ins, diameter in the case of the 7-8-ton chassis, and (lining shoes operate on all six wheels. Hand-brake action is compensated.

A frame of deep section is used, the rear cross-member being suitably reinforced. The .unladen weight of this new chassis, with cab, is 4 tons 15 cwt., and with platform body, 5 tons 7 cwt. Overall length is 20 ft., overall height 7 ft. 91 ins., and width 7 ft. 5 ins. Platform height, laden, is 3 ft. 9 ins. With the exception of the features mentioned, the specification follows that of the 7-8-tonner.
