An interesting ceremony took place at the works of Guy Motors, Ltd., Wolverhampton, a few days ago, when 31 employees, who last year received illuminated certificates for upwards of 20 years' service, were each presented with a silver cigarette box or case. .There were also seven additional employees who, this year, had completed 20 years' service with the company.

In making the presentations, Mr. Sydney S. Guy, chairman. and managing director, referred to the spirit of loyalty which has always existed, and mentioned that the company was about to celebrate its silver jubilee. Many of these employees had been with the company since its earliest days.

Mr. W. Ewart Guy, a director, presented Mr, S. S. Guy with an illuminated address to mark his-association with the concern since he founded it 25 years ago. £485,000 LOAN FOR LEEDS ROAD IMPROVEMENTS?

Leeds City Council has been recommended, by its improvements committee, to ask the Ministry of Transport for sanction to borrow money for two big road-improvement schemes, involving a total estimated expenditure of £485,000. One of the schemes provides for the widening, to 100 ft., of 2-mile of York Road. The other (estimated • to cost R197,000) is for the construction of a further 500 yds. of the new Westgate.
