Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

PACCAR AND Eaton Corporation arc collaborating on LGV hybrid technology for Kenworth and Peterhilt trucks in the US to he produced from 2009.

Paccar president Tom Plimpton says:"Paccar and Eaton developed the technology utilised in the previously announced Kenworth. Peterhilt and Daf mediumduty hybrid trucks which will be launched next year. This heavyduty hybrid technology agreement is a natural extension to the existing partnership.

Eaton's system will comprise an automated manual transmission with a hybrid system incorporating an electric motor/generator. Like most hybrids it will feature regenerative braking.

The system is expected to significantly cut fuel consumption.

• Hybrid technology reduces fuel consumption by using the electric motor when extra power is required, for instance when pulling away or during rapid acceleration. At cruising speeds the electric motor is shut off as the engine is generally running near its most efficient point.

When the vehicle is slowing down, the electric motor acts as a generator and charges the batteries.
