the system works.The firm is a UK Pallets member and five of AFS Haulage's 30 trucks are freed up for use on this side of the business.The pallet division has a £28,000 double-deck trailer which collects pallets from UK Pallets' Litchfield hub then drops them at the Eastleigh base. Before this trailer was taken on, the firm rented a double-decker. "It's very important for pallet work," says Penfold."We can
get between 50 and 70 pallets on there— you can only get 26 pallets on a normal curtainsider.'
His team delivers to the PO postcodes and passes pallets on to other members for onward transit to the Channel Islands and the Isle of Wight.
All told, AFS Pallets handles 150 pallets each day.
