Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A NUMBER of leading truck manufacturers will be meeting with the Association of Lorry Loader Manufacturers and Importers (ALLMI) next month to discuss a number of issues surrounding wiring into engine management systems.

At the meeting, which will be held in the Midlands on 28 September, ALLMI and the truck manufacturers will discuss and attempt to agree on ways to improve the communication and information chain between all parties in relation to the wiring into, and subsequent programming of, engine management systems.

Alan Johnson, commercial director of ALLMI and MD of SJB Crane Co, reports: "This is an ongoing issue for all parties concerned."

He explains the problem: "For quite some time it has often been the case that lack of understanding between crane installers/bodybuilders and truck manufacturers/ dealers has resulted in a customer receiving a finished vehicle that is incorrectly wired or programmed —or both."

Truck manufacturers to be represented include Daf, Iveco, MAN, Mercedes, Renault, Scania and Volvo. ALLMI attendees will include all the main UK-representedmanufacturers,independent service providers and some of the UK's best-known bodybuilders.
