A TRUCK CARRYING copper piping was hijacked from a lay-by in Witton, Birmingham on Wednesday 19 August after the Polish driver was lured out of the cab.

The driver had parked up at Witton, just off Junction 6 of the Ma, while waiting to deliver to a local company.

Between apm and 8,30prn the driver was approached by a white male in high-vis clothing. Because the Polish driver did not understand English begot out of the cab to try to find out what was being said to him, leaving the keys in the truck. While this was happening the truck was stolen.

Detective chief inspector Andy Round from TruckPol (pictured, right) reports: The driver tried to hang onto the cab but jumped off as it sped up, sustaining minor injuries to his elbow."

The cab was recovered later that evening in Walsall. The trailer was recovered the next day, without its load of copper pipes, next to the A5 in Weeford, Staffs.
