More Transport Ferry Loads THERE was a record increase of 65 per cent in the number of Transport Ferry Service unit loads carrying freight by "road across the sea" to and from the Continent in the first half of 1963 compared with the same period last year. This follows news that U.K. exports to Western Europe in the first half of this year were up more than 12 per eent.on similar comparison.

" Exports to the Continent now account for more than 41 per cent of total U.K. exports," said Mr. M, K.

Bustard, general manager of the Transport Ferry Service. " Reviewing our figures for the last six months, it is interesting to note that whilst still carrying a large number of loads such as machine tools, beer and machinery. which form the traditional backbone of exports using the service, we have found a remarkable widening in the range of commodities being shipped to and from the Continent."

B.R.S. at Zurich Fair THE Continental ferry service of British Road Services will have a stand at the British Industrial Fair. at alrich, Switzerland, from September 2-14.

The 200-sq.-ft. stand is sponsored by the Atlantic Steam Navigation Co, Ltd., whose roll-on-roll-off ferry ships for commercial vehicles ply between Tilbury and Antwerp and Rotterdam. B.R.S., which is taking part of the stand, will have its own representative at, the Fair and also the assistance of its Continental agents. Socidt6 Belgo-Anglaise des Ferry-boats s.a., of Brussels, Van Gend en Loos of Utrecht, and Lastag of Basle.

Among the publicity material for distribution at the Zurich Fair. B,R.S. has produced "Via B.R.S.", a leaflet printed in English, German and French, giving an introduction to door-to-door delivery across the Channel by road vehicle.
