Shrewsbury Magistrates ordered Edward Edwards, a partner in Corwen-based AJ Edwards, to pay fines and costs totalling £657 after he admitted using an artic with two defective tyres.

An inspection of the tractor unit and semi-trailer revealed the tread on the offside third axle inner tyre on the tractor was worn away. the body cords were damaged and the tyre was holed. On the first axle of the trailer, the nearside inner tyre tread was worn away and the body cords were damaged. When shown the damage, Edwards said he was ashamed, adding: "I can't make out how I missed it."

He was fined £400 and ordered to pay £242 prosecution costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
