Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The RHA's Tipcon conference and show returns to Harrogate this week, at a time when other seemingly more prestigious shows have fallen by the wayside, arid despite the construction industry slump.

While the number of exhibitors is down on last year the quality and spread of interest remains as high as ever.

As predicted by CM, Foden has launched 3000 Series rigid 8x4 chassis with the narrow 2.2m cab following its success on the six-wheeler, which increased its market share to 7.5% last year.

A further 90kg is pared away, making the lightweight maximum-weight tipper even lighter.

Foden is the latest chassis manufacturer to offer Wabco's ECAS (electronically controlled air suspension) system providing automatic control for tractive units on both drive and second steer axle.

Versatility

ERF highlights the versatility of its tipper range with a line-up of chassis incorporating Perkins Tx325 and Tx375 engines ready for 32 tonnes next year, and Cummins 6CTAA 275 units which will power the six-wheeler at 26 tonnes coupled to Eaton or ZF transmissions. ERF's tipper range offers steel as well as composite cabs.

Seddon Atkinson's low weight TC rigid six-wheeler makes use of low-height options on cab, air intake and suspension to reduce overall height by 385mm.

Volvo has cleaned up its range with low-emission engines across the board up to 30 tonnes. Models include 6x4 and 8x4 versions of the FL7, the FL10 8x4 and the successor to the FL617 four-wheeler — the FL618.

Rival Swedish truck maker Scania also debuts its latest twospring six-wheeler and a 268kW (360hp) P113 eight-legger.

To join its established range of lightweight axles and air suspensions, BPW will introduce its Eco-Mat slack adjuster.

The weighing division of Maywood Instruments is launching a low priced, on-board hi-tech weighing system.

The system displays load distribution to determine axle weights and includes a load delivery facility for operators who deliver part loads.

Mercedes, Volvo, Leyland Daf

and Scania are listed among those who will take the new metric 17/430 push-type clutch from Lipe. It's interchangeable with coil spring and diaphragm spring units and can be supplied with ceramic or organic plates.

With so many names in the bodybuilding field disappearing, it's reassuring to see Don-Bur continue its run of regular appearances with its range of Superlowda and Paylowda highvolume, lightweight tipping trailers.
