THE FREIGHT Transport Association's northern region members are being asked to cooperate in a survey to back up the FTA's campaign for an Al/M1 link to be built to the west of Leeds.
This is to be compiled before the end of next month, as it is required by the inquiry into the Department of Transport's proposals for a route to be built to the east of Leeds.
The FTA says this route will satisfy neither the economic nor the environmental needs of the area, and gave evidence against the DTp plans at the inquiry last week.
The survey will establish the journeys made by operators running between the Leeds area and North-West England and from North-East England to the south.
