"The award is important for boosting employee morale," a Chubb spokesman told CM.

Chubb has made modifications to one of its specialist vehicles — the Protector range of 4x4 and 6x6 modular construction airport crash tenders. It can accommodate a larger four to five man crew cab along with increases in water tank capacity to 10,000 litres on the 6x6.

Cummins Engine (UK) received the award, having exported over 85 per cent of its total turnover. The award applies to the company as a whole rather than one particular factory.

It is the second time Cummins has won the award for the whole company and Eric Hunt, manager of advertising and promotion with Cummins concurred with the Chubb view, saying employees would benefit most from the award through a boost to morale.

The Mexican Government is the biggest buyer of Cummins engines. The Government has a lorry and bus manufacturing unit in Mexico City.

International removal company Michael Gerson won the award for overseas earnings from the removal of household goods and personal effects of people moving to and from the UK.

Managing director Michael Gerson told CM: "The award gives prestige. In the removals business people are influenced by many things. This is one of those influencing factors."

Almost 85 per cent of the company's business is carried out overseas.
