Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

APROTOTYPE articulated tractor is being developed by the Bristol Tramways and Carriage Co., Ltd., for British Road Services. Although details of the vehicle are being kept a close secret by the makers and operators, it is probable that the tractor will be equipped with a Leyland 9.8-litre engine, or similar-sized power unit, for long-distance haulage, and that it will be followed by a smaller vehicle, either rigid or articulated, for local work,

FOURTH APPLICATION FOR TOURS

AN Ecclesfield coach operator, Mr. L. Hobson, has applied to the Yorkshire Licensing Authority for the fourth time for permission to operate excursions and tours.

. British Railways, Sheffield United Tours, Ltd., and four Sheffigld coach operators objected. Wortley Rural District Council supported the application.

Mr. Hobson said he wished to operate to Blackpool, Cleethorpes and Skegness, and to run afternoon or evening tours from EcclesfieId.

At the moment, no excursions or tours were operated from Ecclesfield, a village 'of nearly 10.000 people, nor were any run, from the nearby village of Chapeltown, although an operator had applied to do so and had been refused permission.

People, he said, were anxious to save Is. 2d. bus fare to join excursions and tours starting from Sheffield. He had often had to use his taxi at night to take home people stranded in Sheffield because coaches had returned after normal transport had ceased.

Decision was reserved.
