CAMBRIDGE-BASED Welch's Transport saw its pre-tax losses widen to nearly £500,000 as turnover fell by 23.5% in 2009.

The general haulage and contract distribution specialist, which covers the Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire area for Pallet ine, posted a turnover of 213.1m for the year ending 31 December 2009, down from £17.1m in 2008.

Turnover contribution to Welch's Transport from road haulage and warehousing activities fell from 211.1m in 2008 to £8m in 2009.
