GJ Cooper ownership uncertain after directors' resignations

darn inic.perryarbi.co,uk CONFUSION SURROUNDS who is running Southampton haulage and forwarding group GJ Cooper, with part of its operation, Boyes Conning Freight Services, poised to go into liquidation as CM went to press.

GJ Cooper Holdings trades from a site in West End, Hants, and includes haulage firms Boyes Conning, Cooper Road Sea and warehousing operation Chalcroft Logistics.

It was previously owned by Graham Westcott, but on 22 July he wrote to staff informing them that he had sold the business to a corn

pany called Millgold Investments.

The sale prompted a mass resignation of the directors of GJ Cooper and its subsidiary firms at the beginning of August and, according to Companies House records, they are yet to be replaced.

There is also little known about Millgold Investments: Companies House filings show it has one solitary director, Faridoon Yaghoohza

deh, who lives in Manchester. However, it appears to have links with finance firm Boston Commercial Finance (BCF); its registered office is listed at the same

de

benture mortgage with BCF on 22 July.

GJ Cooper took out an identical mortgage with BCF on the same day, with Boyes Conning and Chalcroft Logistics following suit on 6 August.

However, Boyes Conning appears to be in dire financial straits: a creditors' meeting was due to take place on 8 September to approve it being placed into voluntary liquidation.

Simon Webb, a former director of GI Cooper and Boyes Conning, declines to comment on the films' ownership, but adds: -We are hopeful that there will be a buyer to save employees' jobs"

Boyes Conning was a Palletways member until earlier this year, however Cooper Road Sea has since joined rival network UPN.

No one from MillgoId Investments or Boston Commercial Finance was available for comment.
