I N a report to the transport committee, Mr. J. Mackie, general manager of Belfast Eransport Department, has recommended that there should be no further large-scale development of new trolleybus services.

During the year ended March 31, Mr. Mackie stated, the operating cost of trolleybuses was 31.47d. per mile compared with 32.19d. for Motorbuses, If, however, the tax on oil fuel were reduced by half, the operating cost of motorbuses would be less than that of trolleyb uses.

It was a matter of policy to decide whether the greater flexibility of the motorbus justified the higher cost of operation.

The booklet urges the public to sign a petition to Parliament now being circulated in South Wales and the West Midlands.
