Pulfrey, last week warned the transport committee that a policy decision would have to be made soon to meet the ever increasing rates costs of the undertaking, particularly in face of the latest wage claims. He suggested three courses of action: a straightforward fares increase, making the present higher week-end fares applicable throughout the week, which would bring in £74,000; the substitution of East Yorks Motor Services fares, which would bring in an extra £81,000; or to take no action and to continue with assistance from the rates.
