Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

F you are interested in commercial vehicle accessories then you really ought to look in at the Commercial tor Show this year. Accessories, of rse, cover an enormously wide field it is usually the case that a great I of very varied new equipment is wn under this heading. This year is exception. From safety belts to ise guns, from windscreen wipers to rnators, from oil filters to odometers 's all here. Much new equipment and te a lot that's been seen before—but in all the most interesting collection commercial vehicle accessories you likely to see for two years.

new reel-type safety belt retractor, ed Roll-A-Belt, which fits all types tafety belt, can be seen on Stand 331, wn by Borg-Warner Ltd. A range irades accessories can be seen on the Bradville Ltd. stand (362), including a snow and mud tread, an anti-theft device called Carstop and dry powder fire extinguishers.

Britax (London) Ltd. (Stand 379) is displaying the company's full range of safety belts, including a new automatically adjustable belt. Another new safety device, the Britax steering lock, is also shown. On the Frain Filters Ltd. stand (253) there is a general display of oil filter elements specified as original equipment by some vehicle makers. A Ford engine on the stand will feature Fratn's oil filter F.H. 855 APL (original equipment) and air filter F.A. 641 (market replacement).

A new range of vehicle seats is shown by Cox of Watford Ltd. (Stand 383). This range of Drivemaster seats incorporates an adjuster mechanism, so that it is possible to cater for the requirements for a driver of any shape or size. Not only cab seat height but also the front and rear of the cushion and seat rake can be adjusted. G. E. Jones and Sons (Machine Parts) Ltd. (Stand 346) features a comprehensive display of G.U.D. oil, fuel And air filters. The tirm also shows for the first time the Toshiba sealed headlamp unit Made by the Tokyo Shibaura Electric Co. Ltd. This is an advanced design in which upward scatter of light is virtually eliminated in both dipped and main beam positions.

On Stand 359 Laycock Engineering Ltd. is showing the Laycock diaphragm spring clutch, the Layeock-de-Normanville overdrive and rubber-cushioned universal couplings in various forms and sizes. The clutch has only six component parts, permitting easy atsembly and maintenance.

Many new items are being shown by Joseph Lucas (Electrical) Ltd. (Stand 227). Featured here is a multi-way bulkhead connector. moulded in heat and fumeresistant plastic, designed for use with any Lucas multiple-connection socket according to the application. A highlight on this stand is a cab equipped with some of this concern's latest equipment. This includes the 5 w. link wiper, designed for commercials and p.s.v.s, suitable for either pantograph or conventional armand-blade arrangements. Also displayed is T.A.0 (transistor-ass:stecl contacts) ignition now available for use on 'commercials. The new 240 V. static inverter shown is designed to drive refrigeration compressors and is suitable for a variety of jobs where power 'requirements are relatively small. The powerful new 5-in. M50 starter, intended for diesels of up to approximately 51-litre capacity; .1s shown for the ,first time and the-CFT6 and the Cl:R6 fog and long-range driving lamps are also displayed.

Other interesting exhibits on this stand are the C4OL dynamo, a 12 V. d.c. machine of 4-in. nominal diameter hay-. E31 ing an output of 25 A.; an II a.c. alternator for use on vehicles having maximum electrical loading of 40 to 45 A.: and a two-level signaffing system for Commercials.

On view for the first time at this Show is the fuel input meter developed by Metro! Ltd. (Stand 243). A larger version of the meter announced earlier this year, for use on storage tanks, is displayed on the stand. , The Metro! fuel input meter gives an accurate record of the amount of fuel supplied to a vehicle. The device is fitted to the fuel tank and indicates the contents at any given time. All shapes and types of fuel tank can be fitted with this meter.

Being shown on Stand 347 by Ch. J. Neuman Ltd. is a range of grease guns. These include the Nubrex Mk. 402, a pocket-sized, side-lever, cartridge-loading gun with extension, and Nubrex Mk. 602/U/1/R003, a multi-loading, highpressure, side-lever gun, with cranked rigid extension tube and snap-on nozzle. A complete range of Tite-seal grease nipples is also displayed.

A full range of natural and synthetic

• canvases is shown on Stand 247 by J. H. Peck (Wigan) Ltd. A special feature bele is a new dielectric tarpaulin welding machine of new "open throat" design.

On Stand 201 John Perks and Son (Forgings) Ltd. shows a comprehensive range of fittings in steel and light alloy, which has been extended since the last Show. A range of spare wheel carriers is also shown.

Renold Chains Ltd. (Stand 224) shows a range of simple, duplex and triplex roller chains used for camshaft drives and • Renold and 'the Coventry autoadjusters. The Renold (SCD2, short centre distance) adjuster for engine timing drives is featured and also a stirag clutch, couplings, stock wheels and service tools: • A range of time recorders is shown on Stand 207' by Servk Recorders Ltd. Exhibited here for the first time is the Servis SpeedRecorder--a new range of instruments which record simultaneously m.p.h., k.p.h., distance travelled and standing and running time of vehicles. There are models for one-day and threeday chart duration. This recorder

incorporates a visible speedometer, a 1,000,000-mile odometer, and a warning light which can be set to a pre-selected speed. The speed recorder is operated by the normal speedometer drive cable and the chart is driven by robust clockwork.

A wide range of vehicle-recording instruments is also shown by Speedograph Ltd. (Stand 231), exhibiting at Earls Court for the first time. This includes oil-pressure, air-pressure and vacuum gauges, speedometer flexible drives and right-angle, dual-take-off, multi-ratio gearboxes.

A new product shown on this stand is a hub odometer, This is a worm-driven, totally enclosed, six-figure counter contained in a cast aluminium case designed to record mileage covered by semitrailers. It is usually housed for protection in a cast aluminium hub cap, designed to replace a trailer's hub cap; types are available to cover a wide range of trailer units.

Displayed by Shotton Bros. Ltd. on Stand 359 is a wide variety of castings, including wheel hubs, spring hanger brackets and gear housings.

An interesting item on show on Stand 356 is the new Universal Radiomobile 60T cab radio presented by S. Smith and Sons (Radiomobile) Ltd. The receiver (called the UR.60T), complete with a shallow loudspeaker. 61-in, diameter by 1+-in, deep. is contained in a shaped housing designed to facilitate installation in any convenient position within the vehicle cab. This radio, an all-transistor model, is claimed to be suitable for use on all commercial vehicles. There are three press buttons below the large tuning dial: two select long or medium wavebands and the third gives treble or bass tone control. Two versions of the receiver will be available, to be designated UR.601712 V and UR.60/24 V for opera

tion from either a 12 V or 24 V posi or negative earth d.c. supply.

On view at the Commercial Mi Show for the first time is the Tecak Jackson fuel injection equipment. is on the Tecalemit (Engineering) stand (154). It is a low-pressure sys the fuel being atomizec by comprei air and injected continuously into inlet port of the engine. The Teca air filter. announced earlier this yea( also shown.

Shown for the first time are the sa devices of Thief Deterrents Ltd. (St 401). Featured here is the Robot, wl operates on a three-dial System ha) 728.000 different combinations. On Stand 414, Turner Manufactui Co. Ltd. shows various transmissic these include the T5-300 Series 5-sp gearbox, the T5-300C Series five-sr gearbox (built to metric dimensions . standards), and the T.5-400 Series. shown on this stand are commer vehicle winches and a wide range hydraulic equipment.

A one-ton capacity, tail-gate lift the centrepiece of the U.S. Industries Engineering Ltd. stand (318). A shown is a selection of the cornpai range of oil seals. The Weston pa seal for pressurized cooling systems, be exhibited for the first time, is displa on the stand of Charles Weston and Ltd. (255). This pressure-balanced ! ensures operational efficiency at higher pressures now being used in cc ing systems. Also showr is the conce. standard range of oil seals.

Main exhibits of W. 11. Willcox Co. Ltd. (Stand 406) are flexible hoses all types. The highlight of this sta however, is a new flexible

hose suitable for use with chemicals ; difficult" liquids.

Wilmot Breeden Ltd. (Stand 2 shows some new plastic items, includ a 22-in, diameter fan and an inject moulded roof ventilator in A.1 material. This then is a representative select of accessories to be seen at the P Commercial Motor Show. An exce ingly varied collection.
