SCAMMELL 10-ton semi-trailer, drawn by a Bedford tractor, forms

It has apacity of 170,640 eggs loaded on 21 Rages, each of which contains 18 xes 2 ft. 3 in, long, 1 ft. II in. wide lift. 24 in. deep.

The fiat floor -is of 'Malloy interlocking sections and ' :orporates a large trapdoor over the unmell coupling. Exterior panelling of 20 s.w.g, sheet, all joints being aged and overlapped to give a flush ish.

Panels of 20 s.w.g. sheet are also used the roof, which is framed in alloy .ruded sections.

Interior panelling is of 14 s.w.g. sheet to a height of 15 in. and thereafter 20 s.w.g. Isoflex insulating material es the entire body. Four jellymould ich lamps are mounted in staggered sitions in the roof, so that each row stillages is illuminated. A tell-tale meeting switch is fitted to the dash the driver's cab.

A large lightweight flap, hinged along its upper edge,covers the aperture above the Burtonwood tailboard loader. A spring telescopic ram is fitted to each side of the flap.

The 1-ton tail-lift equipment includes a 4-ft. 64n. by 7-ft: steel tailboard with alloy panelling into which a ramp can be slotted. Power is provided by a 231/240-volt single-phase electric motor operated from the interior of the van. A safety cut-off switch is provided on the exterior. If desired, the equipment can be hand operated.

A full-width locker is provided at the rear, and large lockers for carrying egg boxes are fitted between the wheels on each side. The rear locker houses such equipment as the electric motor, hand winch, wires, tailboard arms, a large wheeled trolley and the ramp.

Two large stirrup steps are let into the skirt panels at the rear to enable the driver to reach the tailboard when it is in the level loading position.
