Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE constant creeping barrage of small increases" gained by the applicants was the reason for an objection by the British Transport Commission before the North Western Deputy Licensing Authority last week.

C. and B. Motor Co., Ltd., Rossendale, wished to substitute an 8-tonner with a 20-ft. platform for a 6-tonner with a I5-ft. 6-in, platform on their A licence. The company had eight other vehicles on the licence and said that they would put the 8-tonner on trunk work and use another for collections and deliveries.

A representative of Jute Industries, Ltd., Dundee, gave evidence of the need for long vehicles to carry woven jute on 16-ft. 6-in.-long steel rollers.

Mr. Granville Dixon, for the 13.T.C.. submitted that the applicants had already had increases this year of I ton and 3 ton in January and 1 ton in May without objection, but it could not be allowed to go on. The only evidence produced was of difficulties caused in loading.

Mr. 1. D. Dunkerley, for the applicants, said that the application was small and justified.

The application was granted.
