IN the 10th annual site equipment demonstration sponsored and organised by Contract Journal, a new 40acre venue near Hatfield was alive for three days last week with almost every conceivable item of construction plant and vehicles.

This year, however, most of the wheeled exhibits were of the off-road type although a few held wider transport interest. Among well-known exhibits were Fodens, the Haulamatic 6-15 dump truck and the Mercedes-Benz LK 2624 now distributed by Thos W. Ward. Fodens also demonstrated a new German-built FAUN off-road articulated dump truck fitted with an aircooled Deutz diesel engine.

Hydraulic lorry loaders shown at Hatfield for the first time included the French-made Monda range.

Sotec Ltd, a ButterfieldHarvey subsidiary company, exhibited a Leyland Reiverbased 6cum (7.8cuyd) transit mixer licence-built in the UK.
