THE Northern Deputy Licensing Authority deleted a furnitureremoval vehicle from the A licence of Mr. J. Taylor, 11 Duke Street, Whitehaven, last week, stating that insufficient evidence had been given to justify a renewal. Mr. Taylor sought the renewal of his licence for this vehicle and another to carry coal, coke; building materials. farm produce and requisites and timber.

Mr. R. A. Webb, for the British Transport Commission, _submitted that only the grant for the second vehicle should be renewed, and that it should be limited to the carriage of timber and coal. Messrs. J. A. Pick thall and Sons, Messrs. I. Rogers and Sons and E. Fye and Sons, Ltd., also objected.

The Deputy Authority granted the renewal of the licence only in respect of the second vehicle.

nESPITE opposition by the British Transport Commission and the Passenger Vehicle Operators' Association, Rochdale Parliamentary Committee have decided not to withdraw the clause relating to concession fares on buses in the Bill they are promoting in the House of Commons. The Bill was heard by a Select Committee of the House of Lords on Tuesday.
