18 gauge aluminium throughout, the interior being lined with walnutfinish Formica. The inner panelling of the roof, which is filled with 1soflex, is 20-gauge aluminium. Like other East Yorkshire double-deckers, the roof has the Gothic contour necessary on a vehicle passing through the North Bar at Beverley.

In the lower saloon luggage racks extending up to the intermediate roof are built up over the wheel-arches. Chromium-plated tubing is used in the construction of the racks, and is employed for the hand rail formed on the gangway side of the parcel racks over the side windows in the lower saloon.

A Clayton L-type canopy heater feeds warm air to both decks through ducting. Further ventilation is provided by the 17 Kelbus double sliding ventilating panels fitted in the side windows. The double-panel jack-knife rear door enclosing the platform, slides along the bottom step, the platform and main floor being on one level.

HEAVY LEYLAND ON TEST AT HOME

THE Ministry of Transport. has given permission to Leyland Motors, Ltd., to test an improved type of export heavy-duty vehicle on British roads under working conditions. An Exemption Order has been granted authorizing the use of the vehicle, which does not comply with the Construction and Use Regulations as regards width.

The vehicle is a modification of the Leyland Super Hippo six-wheeler, and it has a gross laden weight of 19 tons. It is 29 ft. 10i ins, long and 8 ft. wide. Towing a trailer, it will be run in the works fleet.

A.B.C.C. CALLS FOR INQUIRY
