Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

by Steve Banner • The first MAN 26.322 6x6 gritter and snowplough chassis to be sold in the UK has gone into service with Gwent County Council. Left-hand drive and grossing 26 tonnes, it has a new 9rn Epoke SH3590 grit spreading body fitted by Bunce (Ashbury) of Swindon.

The winter maintenance vehicle is powered by MANPs charge-cooled 9.97litre five-cylinder engine.

Maximum power is 315hp (235kW) at 2,000rpm with peak torque of 1,0111hft (1,370Nm) produced between 1,000rprn and 1,500rpm.

A ZF 16-speed gearbox driving through an MAN transfer box has been specified. Differential locks are fitted to all axles.

Equipped with 9.5-tonne front springs and ABS, the 6x6 has a factory installed hydraulic pump to raise and lower the snowplough blade. Other fittings include an additional centre seat in the cab, 180A/h heavy-duty batteries and an 80A alternator.

Salt scattering—via a PTO pump—is road speed related, delivering less salt at low speeds and more with increased speeds. An agitator shaft which breaks up lumps of salt, ensuring an even flow of material, is also incorporated.
