Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A Warrington man hoped to get £100 from his employer, in return for stealing a £1,000 trailer, Ellesmere Port magistrates were told last week.

Mr William Richard Price, aged 53, of The Street, Lower Whitley, near Warrington, was fined £25 for stealing the trailer, property of Williams Bros, of Queensferry, from Ellesmere Port Docks between June and December last year.

The prosecution stated that Mr Price, in a statement to the police, had said that the boss of the firm for which he then worked as a driver, had mentioned that he was short of trailers. He had asked him how much it was worth, and his boss said about £100. He had taken this to mean that his boss wanted him to steal a trailer.

His statement went on to say that he had had to leave his own trailer at Ellesmere Port Docks one day for it to be unloaded and had parked next to an un-hitched trailer, owned by Williams Bros. He took it, but his boss refused to pay him because he heard it was owned by Williams Bros.
