IN some quarters it has been stated that there is too much transport in Britain. There may be, but there is no reason to take the view that this extra' transport is road transport. There are too many bits and pieces of railway line all over the country and that is where the surplus transport is."

.Mr. F. D. FitzGerald, national secretary of the Traders' Road Transport Association, made this statement when he addressed the Portsmouth section last week.

He said that there were too many people who took for granted their freedom to operate their own vehicles.
