MR. J. T. G. MILNE has been appointed general sales manager of S. Smith and Sons (Radiomobile), Ltd.

Ma. R. C. EYLEY, of Dinnington, near Sheffield, whose haulage business has been nationalized, is sailing for Australia at the end of this month. With his family, he is taking MR. H. Small, who was Mr. Eyley's spare-time fitter.

SIR HENRY WILSON SMITH has been elected a director of the Vocuum Oil Co., Ltd. He has joinedthe board. as one of the representatives of Powell, Duff ryn, Ltd., which, in partnership with the Socony-Vacuum Co.. of New York, . now jointly owns the concern.

Ma_ Eworr A. EVANS, M.I.Mech.E., F.R.I.C. chief chemist of the Wakefield group Of companies, has -retired. He joined C. C. Wakefield and Co., Ltd., in 1915 and did pioneer work in the use of metallic soaps in hydrocarbon oils. A past-president of the Institute of Petroleum. he is now chairman of the Automobile Division of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. Consequent upon his retirement, the following appointments to the group are announced: MR. G. H. THORNLEY, M.Sc., F.Inst.Pet., group technical manager; MR. P. W. L. MR. G. T. BELL has been appointed managing director of Weldall and Assembly, Ltd., a company recently acquired by the Triplex Safety Glass Co., Ltd.

Ma. J. L. VINCENT, special representative of the Avon India Rubber Co., Ltd., has been appointed manager of the company's original equipment department.

MR. S. W. Gooney, publicity manager of A.C.V. Saks, Ltd., has retired after 41 years' service in the commercial vehicle industry. In 1909 he joined the former London General Omnibus Co. at its Walthamstow factory and, after

studying at several art schools, took up publicity and advertising. In 1919 Mr. Goodey took charge of the advertising section of the newly formed sales department of the Associated Equipment Co.. Ltd. The company had been formed in 1912 with staff drawn from the L.G.O.C. works at Walthamstow. In 1926, five years after he had started the company's house organ, "A.E.C. Gazette," he became publicity manager. Mr. Goodey was responsible for staging some 30 exhibition stands. To mark his retirement, he was entertained to luncheon by the directors.
