The County Borough of West Ham (supplement, page V) invites tenders for the supply of a petroldriven motor fire-engine.

Eiremaster Inkster, of Aberdeen, has lately been instructing members of his Committee in matters motorial, and beneficial results for Aberdonians should follow.

Middlesbrough Town Council has at last resolved, after a full debate, to purchase a motor fire-engine and a combined motor tender and escape ; £2,100 is to be spent altogether.

The Leicester brigade will shortly be wholly equipped with motor fireengines, and it looks as though the Loughborough brigade would go the same way. Superintendent Neal is the chief officer at Leicester, and Superintendent Cliff the chief officer at Loughborough.

Tenders for a petrol motor fire engine, to meet the requirements of the Penge U.D.C., must be lodged, on or before the 8th inst., with Mr. H. W. Longdin, Surveyor, Town Hall, Anerley, S.F.., from whom the necessary specification and form of tender can be obtained by any interested party upon the deposit of one guinea.

Messrs. E. W. Carling and Co.,. of St. Dunstan's Buildings, St. Dunstan's Hill, E.C., are authorized by the Municipal Council of Johannesburg, to receive tenders, until noon on the 31st inst., for the supply of a motor fireescape.

A motor fire-float has been supplied to the London Fire Brigade by John I. Thornycroft and Co., Ltd., from the Southampton works. This new fire-fighter, which is known as the " Gamma," has been constructed under the supervision of Lieutenant Sladen, chief officer of the Metropolitan Brigade.

At a recent fire at Newton Abbot, according to Chief Officer Prowse, although the brigade was ready to start in six minutes, it took something like thirty minutes to obtain horses. We do not wonder that the Eire Brigade Committee is now engaged upon the necessary steps which precede the purchase of a motor fire-engine.
