Laurie Dealer spoke to both exhibitors and visitors at this year’s Truckfest and finds out what everyone is buying

Words: Laurie Dealer LAURIE DEALER took the opportunity to talk to the exhibitors and visitors about the used truck market, at Truckfest 2011, Peterborough.

Feedback was positive, although the days of buying a truck directly off the stand are long gone. On the Mercedes-Benz stand, the Actros 2546 drew plenty of attention, and Junction 6 Commercials appeared to enjoy the show as well with plenty of interest in the three trucks on its stand.

The owner-drivers doing the rounds took in the trucks from the six manufacturers that attended. One owner-driver, based in Bristol and hauling containers, brought his 10-year-old ERF to the show and spoke with all the manufacturers. But he remained unmoved by the current prices and packages and decided not to part with his cash.

However, another owner-driver felt an all-round package for a two-year-old DAF CF85 truck might well suit his operation as his 52-plate Volvo FM was starting to show its age. ■
