Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ARR CRAIB Transport wants the go-ahead to base 30 vehicles and 45 trailers at its new yard on the East Tullos Industrial Estate in Aberdeen.

At the same time, the company is applying to remove from its licence the addresses of two of its former customers, which have now closed their operations in the city.

These are the former BPB Paperboard site at Davidson Mill, Aberdeen, as well as the International Paper (UK) facility in Inverrurie.

Eddie Anderson, MD at ARR Craib, tells CM the company has made the application because it has had to reshufle vehicles in the leet following the closures, and needed the new site for parking.

He says: “Sadly, the International Paper and BPB Paperboard work has gone from Aberdeen, and we will use the East Tullos Industrial Estate site to park some of our vehicles.” Before it closed, International Paper’s business in Inverurie had been worth just over £4m a year for ARR Craib.

However, Anderson remains upbeat about the future and says: “Although it’s very sad that some of the old industries have gone, there is new business out there and we are managing to pick up new work.”
