• The Road Haulage Association has produced a comprehensive guide to tipper operations and general haulage called The Essential Tipper Handbook.
It provides need-to-know information on tipping and other vehicle related topics in a manageable pocket book format.
The guide is the work of RHA tipping consultant Kerry Spencer and costs £3.50 including postage. In addition to chapters on vehicle chassis and transmissions there are sections on bodywork, tyres and tipping gear plus valuable data on tachographs, insurance, speed limiters and safe tipping rules.
Other sections cover the weights of bulk materials, training and hazardous loads.
The guide provides a useful reference source for both operational and legal queries to operators and drivers alike. Copies can be obtained from the RIIA on (0932) 841515.
