• A range of drawbar platform trailers designed to a standard specification for quantity production at the company's Corby plant has been developed by the York Trailer Co Ltd.
Models plated from 12 to 20 tons gtw are included; their approximate payload ratings range from 9 to 16.5 tons. York's established TA1 single-axle suspension with variable-rate springs is employed on the new off-the-shelf drawbar trailers. In all cases twin 20in. wheels are fitted on both axles, with a common tyre size front and rear, according to the plated axle weight — which varies from 6.5 tons on the I2-tonner to 10 tons on the largest unit.
Common 14in. by 5in. I-beam mainframe longitudinals are incorporated throughout the new FDB York drawbar range. Above the 40in. diameter Jost ball-bearing turntable the frame is reduced in depth to 7in., giving tyre clearance on bends.

12in. to withstand fork-truck loading. Each bearer. a 4in. by liin. channel, is threaded through the mainrails. Deck height varies according to model, from 494 to 52in.
A full three-line braking system is standard. Brake drum diameter is 151in., with 6in.-wide shoes on models up to 14 tons gross, 7in.-wide on the 15and 16-tonners, and 8+in.-wide on the heaviest 20 tons gross model: 16+in. brakes are optional. A multi-pull mechanical parking brake is provided.
Platform lengths from 18 to 24ft are listed, to which must be added 5ft as the nominal length of the drawbar which takes the form of a hinged A-frame pivoted on 4+in.-long bushed hinges.
Unladen weights of complete York FDB trailers vary from 2 tons 18cwt on an 18ft 12-tonner. to 3 tons 14cwt in the case of a 24ft 20 tons gross model.
