• High truck sales are expected late this year and early in 1973 through buyers being anxious to save paying VAT, said the chairman of Bristol Street Group Ltd, Mr Harry G. Cressman, in his annual review. Commercial vehicles would, he explained, be subject to the new tax.
The group made a pre-tax profit of £1.5m last year, an increase of nearly £4-m on 1970.
