Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

TO enable the driver of a vehicle to turn off the .petrol and switch off the ignition by one movement of a single control on the dashboard, the device shown in the accompanying sketch has been introduced by the Holmes Dual Control Co., 213, Bradford Road, Huddersfield. This concern claims that its product effects a big saving in petrol, enables the maximum advantage to be taken of the braking

effect of the engine and lessens the risk of a carburetter fire spreading.

The switch is incorporated in the dashboard end of the control, whilst the petrol valve is at the other end, within the fitting designed to replace the screw -which secures the petrol-pipe union to the carburetter. Contact is broken and fuel simultaneously cut off by pulling out the knurled knob, which will remain in the off position if given a quarter of a turn to left or right. The two units are connected by an ample length of cable having provision for adjustment at both ends.

The device is easy to fit and inexpensive to buy, costing only £1 10s.
