Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AN IMPRESSIVE display of trucks and trailers which included the first public appearance of the new PB 80 from Crane Fruehauf was held at the premises of Leyland distributors John Hudson (Commercial Vehicles) Ltd, at flawtry near Doncaster last week.

The Crane Fruehauf trailer (CM last week) is plated at 31 tonnes ready for any future changes in legislation. The redesigned rave r a i 1 gives 16mm (sin) greater deck space between the raves and the new headboard at 76cm (2ft 6in) high complies with the Code of Practice safety recommendations.

The example on show at Hudson's was fitted with the optional high density polythene rear panel which Crane Fruehauf claims will reduce accident damage and extend bulb life due to its flexibility.

On the van side, Boalloy was showing one of the Linkliner 'Long Haul' units with the sliding door sides. The front and rear doors on each side of the van can be hinged open allowing space for the remaining panels to be slid forwards or backwards which gives complete access to the load at any point along the van. The interior width is 2.41m (7ft 101in).

The hinged doors are fitted with remote control air locks operated from the braking system. If the normal mechanised locks are forced, the internal air-operated locks still prevent entry.

One of the 'home' products to be seen at Bawtry was the John Hudson designed dual purpose trailer. Designed with breweries in mind this 12.2m (40ft) tandem-axle trailer has fold-in sides and gravity discharge chutes. This allows the operator to carry bulk grain one way while providing a flat platform of 12.2 x 2.49m (40ft x 8ft 2in) for a return load.

The pillars and the ties are stowed under the floor when detached. Plated at 31.5 tonnes (31 tons) the dual purpose trailer has an unladen weight of 5.96 tonnes (5 tons 17cwt).

Still on the trailer side, Taskers Trailers Ltd, was there in force with a number of it Design Council Awardwinning low loaders. The company claims that a typical loading sequence for a Tasklift takes around seven minutes from arrival empty to fully laden departure.

As one would expect at a Leyland distributors, the display included a large selection of Truck and Bus Division products ranging from Terriers and Reivers up to the "Iran Special" Marathon for BRS. The component side of this well attended show included representatives from Eaton, Rolls-Royce and Cummins.
