Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

NEW DRINK-DRIVE rules proposed by the Blennerhassett Report should be made more lenient for truck drivers who stand to lose their jobs after being successfully prosecuted.

This call has come from the TUC transport industries committee, whose chairman is Transport and General Workers' Union chief Mr Jack Jones.

The Blennerhassett report has stated clearly that there cannot be one law for one set of road users apart from the rest of the community.

But the TUC are claiming that there should be special provisions for the professionals. The Blennerhassett Committee said in their report that the professional driver had a greater duty to the public to ensure that he drove safely than did the car driver.

The TUC is to ask unions to send them their views on the drink-drive report so that a case can be compiled for submission to transport minister Dr John Gilbert.
