Bodybuilders merge in Freight Bonallack

• A new commercial vehicle body building firm, Freight Bonallack Ltd, results from a merger, announced yesterday, July 1, between Bonallack and Sons and Freight Development Company, Lancing, Sussex.
The new company will operate through divisions based at Basildon, Lancing, Norwich and Wakefield, each responsible for its own profit but able to draw on the expertise of the whole company. As a member of the Alcan Group of Companies, Freight Bonallack expects to benefit from worldwide resources and research facilities. Insulated ISO container production will continue to be concentrated at Norwich and Bonallack Vehicles Ltd will be a subsidiary of the new company.
Mr David Peters, managing director of Freight Bonallack and a director of Akan Booth Industries, said at Basildon: ."This move will put us in a stronger position to meet the developing needs of the transport industry. More commercial transport will be handled by bigger groups whose requirements will become more sophisticated and the smaller operator will become increasingly demanding in the quality and performance of his vehicles.
"Bodybuilders will have to be big enough to supply in the quantities, and at the tine, required and yet be flexible enough to meet special needs. Freight Bonallack, with its size, structure and range of products will be able to do this."
