MR. PERCY HAWIIN has been elected to the board of Cheswick and Wright, Ltd.
MR. R. A. HAwRiNs, general manager of Newport Transport Department, has been elected chairman of the South Wales public service vehicle engineers' committee.
MR. I. A. MARRiorr has been elected to the board of Wellworthy, Ltd. Previously he had been commercial director of the Brush Group and later managing director of W. G. Bagnall, Ltd., and the Parsons Engineering Co.
MR. R. A. BECKETT has been appointed managing director and deputy chairman of Beckett, Laycock and Watkinson, Ltd. MR. J. E. BECKETT, who has lately combined the positions of chairman and managing director, remains as chairman.
MR. L. F. MARLYN Will join Simms Motor Units, Ltd,, as research engineer this month. He will be in charge of
the fuel-injection laboratories. Mr. Martyn was research engineer at the British Internal Combustion Engine Research Association, Slough, and before that, assistant research engineer of Ruston and Hornsby, Ltd.
MR. G. F. STEDmAN will become a deputy secretary of the Ministry of Transport when SIR NORMAN GLITTERY retires on September 30. MR. P. D. PROCTOR, at present deputy secretary (inland transport), will take over the shipping side of the Ministry when Sir Norman retires and Mr. Stedman will take over from Mr. Proctor.

MR. NORMAN TATTERSALL has been appointed chief engineer of Leyland Motors (Ministry of Supply) factory. He will relinquish his present position as chief engineer of Leyland Motors, Ltd., so that he can concentrate on Tank design and development. MR. V. W. PILKINGTON, director in charge of engineering, will continue to take full control of the engineering division of Leyland Motors, Ltd.
MR. K. W. FIDLER has been appointed communications manager of Shell-Mex and 11.P., Ltd. Other appointments announced by the company are: MR. L. H. RALPH, assistant manager, staff department; MR. C. S. MARTIN, fuel oil manager, London; MR. H. C. BEAUFOY, manager, North Wales; MR. A. E. J. COBURN, manager, St. Leopards Wharf and Silvertown installations; MR. D. H. M. HIGHER PAY AWARDED
ALL adult male workers in the bodybuilding industry are to receive an advance of 21d. an hour in pay under an award of the Industrial Disputes Tribunal. Female workers and juveniles will receive proportionate increases.
